Photographer website design that puts the work first
Good photographer website design is mostly restraint. The site holds your galleries, keeps them quick on a phone, and puts the enquiry where someone has just finished looking. Then it gets out of the way.

Yours is the one kind of business where the website should barely announce itself. Heavy frames, loud type and clever transitions all compete with the photographs, and the photographs are what gets you booked.
So the layout is built to hold images properly. Big, uncrowded, in an order you choose, with enough quiet around them that the eye settles on the work instead of the furniture around it.
Where photographer website design goes wrong
- Full resolution files dropped straight onto the page. Magnificent, and still arriving.
- Every image downloads at once, whether the visitor scrolls that far or not.
- Squashed hard to fix the speed, so the work looks worse than it is.
- On mobile data, a slow gallery is a closed tab.
- Each image served at the size the screen can actually use.
- A modern format, so the file is smaller without looking like it.
- Images load as the visitor scrolls, not all in one hit.
- On a large display you still get the large version.
What happens to a set you upload
You hand over the photographs you shot. The site does the fiddly part on its own.
- 01You upload the full setStraight out of your export, at the resolution you work in. No resizing by hand, no folder of smaller copies to keep track of.
- 02It gets prepared automaticallyEach photograph becomes a handful of sizes in a modern format, ready for whichever screen asks for it next. That is not the same as compressing it badly.
- 03The visitor gets the right oneA phone gets the phone version, a big monitor gets the big one, and both arrive as the page is scrolled rather than all up front.
The enquiry goes where the looking ends
Someone who has just scrolled your whole wedding gallery is as warm as they are ever going to be. If the next step is hunting through the menu for a contact page, you lose a few of them for no good reason.
So the enquiry sits right where the looking stops, and it asks for what you actually need to quote: the date, the type of shoot, the location. Not a blank box labelled message, which gets you a first name and a sentence and three more emails before you know whether you are even free.
Moizzart, a Sydney wedding photographer and videographer, is one of ours. Full-bleed galleries, and an enquiry flow built for couples booking a date. It is on our homepage, and it is live at moizzart.com.
What the site comes with
The parts a photography site genuinely needs. Not a long list of things you will never open.
- Galleries built for full-bleed images that stay quick on a phone
- Every photograph served at the size the screen asks for, in a modern format
- Private, password-protected galleries for delivering to clients
- Video handled so it does not stall the page
- An enquiry that asks for the date, the shoot and the location
- A way to publish a new set yourself, on a Tuesday night, without a developer
- Hosting, backups and someone to call when something looks odd
The things people ask
How much does a photography website cost?
There is no fixed price, because no two sites need the same things. We quote on what yours actually needs once we have talked about it. Before any of that, we build you a free preview so you can see the work before you decide anything. No obligation, nothing to pay.
Will my images lose quality?
No. They are served at the size each screen can actually use, which is a different thing from compressing them badly. On a large display you get the large version. On a phone you get one that looks identical there and arrives in a fraction of the time.
Can I put client galleries behind a password?
Yes. Private galleries are one of the most common asks and they are straightforward to build. Tell us how you deliver to clients now and we will match that, rather than making you change the way you work.
Can I add a new shoot myself?
That is the idea. Publishing last weekend's wedding should not mean booking a developer. You upload the set, give it a title, and it goes up ready to look at. The resizing and the formatting happen behind the scenes.
Do you handle video as well as stills?
Yes, and it is worth raising early. Film is much heavier than photographs, so it has to be built in a way that does not hold the rest of the page hostage. Knowing about it up front changes how we put the site together.
I already have a site. Do my galleries come across?
Usually, though it depends what you still have. If you have the original files it is straightforward. If the only copies left are the compressed ones on your current site, we will show you what that would actually look like before you commit to anything. Either way we will tell you honestly whether your existing site needs replacing or just needs its galleries fixed.
