What we do

Website redesign in Sydney

You already have a website. Somewhere along the way you quietly stopped sending people to it, and now you catch yourself saying just look us up on Instagram instead. Most of our website redesign Sydney work starts right there, and nobody here is going to make you feel silly about the site you have.

The website redesign Sydney businesses actually ask for

The site you are putting up with
  • Slow on a phone, because it was built for a desktop and never recovered.
  • Hours that have been wrong since the last time they changed.
  • A price list from years ago that you keep meaning to sort out.
  • Nothing can be changed without ringing someone who may or may not answer.
  • You would rather not send the link, so you send your Instagram instead.
The site that takes its place
  • Built for a thumb first, so it opens fast on the phone people actually hold.
  • Today's hours said plainly, and you are the one who changes them.
  • Prices and offers you update yourself in a minute, from wherever you are.
  • A login that is yours, with nobody standing between you and your own site.
  • A link you send first, before anyone has to ask you for it.

What we keep, and what we do not

A redesign is not permission to throw out everything that works. If your words are good, your words stay. If people know you by one particular page, that page keeps its address and keeps doing its job.

What usually goes is the structure. Old sites grow one page at a time, each one added for a reason that made sense that week, until nobody can find anything and the search box is doing all the work. So we start from what people actually come looking for and build the site around that, instead of around the order things happened to get added.

How it runs, start to finish

Three moves. Your current site keeps running through all of them.

  1. 01We go through what you haveA chat about the business, then a proper look at the site. What still earns its keep, which pages people visit, and what you are stuck with because nobody can edit it.
  2. 02We design the new one beside itNothing gets switched off while you make up your mind. The new version is built separately, you put it next to what you have, and you compare. The slider on our homepage does exactly this with StickIt, a site we built, though the old half there is our own joke rather than a real site anyone suffered through.
  3. 03We map every old address, then launchEvery page on the old site gets pointed at wherever it now lives before anything goes live. Then it goes up, usually without a single customer noticing there was a changeover.

Your rankings are the fair worry

This is the first thing almost everybody asks, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a promise. A redesign done carelessly can undo years of being findable, so the careful part happens before launch, not afterwards.

The honest version is unglamorous and it works. Every old address gets pointed at its new one, so a link on somebody else's site or an old search result still lands somewhere real instead of on an error page. The pages that bring people in are kept rather than quietly deleted during the tidy up. And the new site is faster than the old one, which helps.

What you get on the other side

Same business. The awkward parts taken out.

  • A site that loads quickly on an ordinary phone with ordinary reception.
  • Every old page address pointed at its new home, so nothing arrives at a dead end.
  • The words and the pages worth keeping, kept.
  • Hours, prices and photos you can change yourself, without asking anyone.
  • Your own logins, written down plainly, in your name.
  • Hosting, backups and updates looked after, so it does not go stale again.
Questions

The things people ask

How much does a website redesign cost?

There is no fixed price, because no two sites need the same things. We quote on what yours actually needs once we have talked about it. Before any of that, we build you a free preview so you can see the work before you decide anything. No obligation, nothing to pay.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if the redirects are done properly, and they are the first thing we plan. Every old page address is pointed at its new home, so links and old search results still land on a real page, and the pages that bring you traffic stay rather than disappearing in the tidy up. The new site is also faster, which helps. What we will not do is promise you a number.

All I have is a login from a developer I lost touch with. Is that a problem?

Almost never, and it happens constantly. Bring whatever you have to the first chat, even if it is one password in a note on your phone, and we will work out what is missing and how to get it. People expect this part to be a nightmare and it usually takes an afternoon.

What happens to my site while you build the new one?

It stays live and untouched. The new one is built somewhere else entirely and only replaces it on the day you say so, so there is never a stretch where customers find nothing. If you look at the new version and decide you would rather not, your old site just carries on.

Can I keep my logo and colours?

Yes, if they are working. Plenty of businesses have a logo people recognise sitting on a site that lets it down, and that is a design problem rather than a branding one. If we think the branding is what is holding you back we will say so once, then build whatever you decide.

My site is only a few years old. Is a redesign overkill?

Age is not really the test. The test is whether it is quick on a phone, whether the information on it is true today, and whether you can change something without asking permission. A three year old site can pass all three. A six month old one can fail all three.
